General Questions
1. Does it cost to sell on Kidswap?
It does cost .30 cents to post an ad on Kidswap. Why should you pay when there are so many free sites out there? We're tailormade for selling kid's stuff. People come here with exactly that in mind, so there isn't hours of surfing pointless categories to find what you are looking for. We have the safety and security of community police, who watch registrations and feedback, and our biggest goal is to create a safe, online enviornment for parents to buy and sell.
If that doesn't sway you, we have unlimited online time. Your ad literally stays online until you delete it or in some cases it gets flagged for deletion (you do not reply to email inquiries on the item) and you don't delete it yourself.
2. Is Registration free on Kidswap?
Registration is definitely free. You do not have to ever sell anything on here to have a Kidswap account.
4. Does it cost to buy on Kidswap?
Absolutely not.
5. How can I be sure that any information I provide you with is safe?
Kidswap has been online since 2003, and in that time we've been taught a few things about what to say and what not to say online.
Any information you provide Kidswap with during registration is 100% confidential. We never sell information to third parties, you will not receive spam from us, and we're dedicated to eliminating that possibility. Kidswap rarely sends out newsletters, but if we do and you don't want one, simply email us and we'll take your email straight out of the list.
6. What is the history of Kidswap?
Kidswap was put online in December of 2003. During the past four years we've been mentioned in numerous newspapers, had featured articles in the Vancouver Province, been on City TV, and was invited to pitch on CBC's Dragon's Den. Things became a little hairy in 2007 after a botched web development contract, but that's a story for the blog.

Registering for an account on Kidswap
The first step in registering for an account is to visit our registration page. You will be taken through the steps to create a user account. If, at any time, you have problems with registration, please contact us and we'll provide an answer for you quickly.
How do I take the best pictures of the stuff I want to sell?
Way back in 2003, when Kidswap was put online, some people still used *gasp* 35 mm cameras and had to buy film. Not so anymore! It's so simple to take a photo and put it online now, that you can easily upload hundreds of items in as little as a few hours. Remember, some items sell quickly because a person can really see it in an ad and don't need to ask you any questions other than "Can I buy it?"
We've got more pic tips here, but in the meantime, here are a few quickies:
- Use a white backdrop. Try to avoid taking the pictures on the rug or the floor as it distracts from the item. If it's clothing, put it on a hanger and take the picture on the wall.
-
- If its a toy, take the photo from an angle where you can really see the item.
